Comparatives & Superlatives in Spanish

Comparatives __ two things, whereas superlatives say that something __ everything else. compare / exceeds
Nouns and verbs use __ + __ to form equal comparisons tanto / como
Adverbs and adjectives use __ + __ to form equal comparisons tan / como
Noun equal comparisons: tanto + noun + como (tanto agrees with noun) Tengo tanto dinero como tú = I have as much money as you
Noun unequal comparisons: más/menos + noun + que. Tengo más dinero que tú, pero menos dinero que Luis. = I have more money than you, but less money than Luis
Verb equal comparisons: verb + tanto como. Compro tanto como tú = I buy as much you
Verb unequal comparisons: verb + más/menos + que. Ella compra menos que yo, pero él compra más que yo = She buys less than me, but he buys more than me.
Adj / Adv equal comparisons: tan + adj/adv + como - (adj)Este reloj es tan caro como ése = This watch is as expensive as that one. (adv)Hago mi tarea tan fácilmente como tú = I do my homework as easily as you do.
Adj / Adv unequal comparisons: más/menos + adj/adv + que. (adj)Este reloj es más caro que ése = This watch is more expensive than that one. (adv)Ella paga sus cuentas más rápidamente que yo = She pays her bills faster than I do.
Adjective irregular comparatives: bueno / mejor = good / better malo / peor = bad / worse joven / menor = young / younger viejo / mayor = old / older
Adverb irregular comparatives: bien / mejor = well / better mal / peor = badly / worse
To say something or someone is extreme in some way, add __ to the end of an adjective. If the adj ends in a vowel, __ it first ísimo / remove fácil = facilísimo - extremely easy
To say something is the most or least, use the formula: article + noun + __/___ + adjective + __ más/menos / de Roberto es el estudiante más popular de la universidad
The superlative form (ísimo) must change to reflect the __ and __ of the noun it modifies gender - number unos aretes carísimos / unas camisetas baratísimas
