Physics unit 1 assessment containing forces and graphs.
Question | Answer |
---|---|
What is a distance time graph and why do we use it ? | A distance-time graph shows how the distance of an object (from a point) varies over time |
What is the formula of speed? | Speed = Distance / Time |
What is a Trundle wheel ? | A trundle wheel is ideal for measuring long distances |
What are the units of acceleration ? | The units of acceleration is m/s2 |
How do we calculate acceleration in a Velocity time graph? | By the gradient of the line. |
What does a horizontal line represent in a velocity time graph? | It represents constant speed |
How can forces affect different kinds of bodies? | They can change their speed They can change their direction They can change their shape |
What is the formula of acceleration in graphs? | Acceleration = final velocity - initial velocity / Time taken |
What is a vector? Give examples | Vectors are quantities that both have magnitude and direction E.g. Velocity , force and weight are vectors. |
What is a scaler? Give examples | A scaler is a quantity which only has a magnitude. E.g. Distance , speed and time are scaler quantities |
What is the formula we use to work out the weight of an object? | Weight = mass x gravitational force |
What opposes the motion of an object ? | Friction |
What is resultant force? | Resultant force is adding forces which go in the same direction or subtracting forces who go at opposite direction. |
What is the formula of force? | Force = mass x acceleration |
