Conflict a struggle between opposing forces. An external conflict involves a character who struggles against a force outside himself. An internal conflict is one that occurs within a character. ex. man vs nature man vs himself

Connotation ideas of feeling, associated with the word ex. home, comfort, security
Denotation dictionary definition of a word ex. word home is dwelling place, conclusion is warm, comport (jaden you can't spell, what is this suppose to say)
Critiquing a careful judgement in which you give yoru opion about the good and bad parts of something. ex. having to fix something that is very small
Dialogue written conversation between two or more characters ex. you are in dialogue when texting with someone
Diction word choice, what words to convey and how to say it. can help you know author tone and purpose. ex. how the author exposes' himself.
Figurative language language that communicates meanings beyond the literal meaning of words ex. Sussie is the sunshine to my day
Flashback an inturputation of the action to present event that took place at earlier time. ex. when you are sitting in math and think about past weekend
Foreshadowing a writer provides hints that suggest future events in a story. It creates suspend and makes the reager eager to find out what will happen. ex. A character is cleaning a gun and later in the story someone is killed.
Genre a category that literature classified ex. Dr. Suse action
Fiction in the form of prose especially short storys and novels with imaginary people. ex. people we meat on vacation is fiction
Realistic Fiction a genre of fiction that is set in the modern present with human ex. B.F.G.
Mystery involves the search for answers around them ex. An then there was none
Adventure Consist of incredible journeys of the struggle to survive ex. jungle book
Historical fiction a genre of fiction set in the past. real people, places and things ex. Wendys war
Science fiction genre of fiction that is set in the future and based on the impact of real ex. 1984 Book
Dystopian fiction set in the past apocalypses society or future society in the law. ex. Hands maid tail
Fantasy a genre of fiction that contain magical elements such as non-existent worlds, talking animals and other creatures. ex. Harry potter
Nonfiction pose writing that is based on facts, real people, such as biography or history. ex. facts about snakes
Informational writing that informs. it is a tpye of nonfiction writing, which means it is factual. ex. Book about Bees
