Components o thf the blood.

erythrocytes aka red blood cells (RBCs)
erythrocytes function transport oxygen and carbon dioxide
hemoglobin Oxygen carrying pigment in red blood cells
leukocytes function Is to provide the body protection against infections
leukocytes aka white blood cells (WBCs)
leukocytes formed in red bone marrow
neutrophils most common WBC; phagocyte; releases toxins; attack bacteria, virus, fungal infections
eosinophils WBC that release toxins that kill parasites & play a major role in allergic reactions
basophils WBC that produces histamine.
monocytes WBC increases during chronic infections; phagocytosis
Lymphocytes A type of white blood cell that make antibodies to fight off infections; tumors and CA
thrombocytes function assist in blood clotting
thrombocytes aka platelets
