Las Posadas

The definition of Las posadas is: A festival, celebrated in Mexico and Central America, that honors Joseph and Mary's journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem and the search of a safe haven for the birth of Jesus Christ.
The dates on which Las posadas festivals are observed/celebrated: December 16th through December 24th
The roles of children during the posadas celebrations: One participant dresses as an angel and is followed by peers dressed in silver and gold robes in a procession.
The roles of adults during the posadas celebrations: playing music, preparing food, reading the Bible, and singing traditional carols.
During the evening of Las posadas, the following occurs: Mass is held, and children break open piñatas full of candy and toys.
