Genre Vocabulary

QuestionAnswer
Graphic Novels/Comics This is a format, not a genre. These books can be fiction, non-fiction, history, fantasy, or anything in-between.
Humorous - Funny Stories that try to make the reader laugh. They will have strange or quirky characters that get into silly situations.
Mystery/Adventure A story that has a secret or a puzzle. A story set in exotic locations and involves an exciting journey.
Science Fiction - Fantasy A story that has made up events and will include science, the future or technology as a major part of the story. A story where magic or the supernatural are the main feature.
Realistic Fiction A fictional story that is true to life with characters who experience real problems.
Historical Fiction A fictional story that is set in a historical time period.
Diversity Stories about different types of people, families and traditions.
