Default margin size, where to access it and where to change it Click Margins, click Custom Margins, and then in the Top, Bottom, Left, and Right boxes, enter new values for the margins. 1 inch on all sides, change by clicking margins, (also duh)
Dialogue box launchers (what are/where are they) Launch boxes that contain items snot on the ribbon, located on the bottom right corner of section.
Horizontal Font Alignment (what are all of the options for font alignment) Left, right center, justified-lines things up to be perfectly on the left and right.
Indents First line First line-typically what you see in a paragraph
hanging indent hanging indent-(Bottom triangle) seen in a works cited, the first line left aligned and every other line underneath is indented, opposite of first line (kinda),
negative indent Negative Indent- Do the opposite, pull side indent into the left side margin
positive indent Positive indent - Take entire paragraph and indent every line equally into the document,
Line and page break options Widowed Widowed line- paragraph at bottom of page and only one line goes onto the next page
Line and page break options orphaned Orphaned Line- opposite, first line of paragraph is at the bottom of the page and the whole rest of the document is on the page. (Widow/orphan control, stops both things from happening)
Line and page break options keep lines together Keep lines together Button- select paragraph and chose keep lines together,
Line Spacing (what are the options for spacing, before/after, etc) 1.5 is default, single spacing double spacing, space and a half are all options, exactly- custom spacing.
Mini Toolbar - what is it and how do you access it basic font editing tools, select text and toolbar with pop up.
Monospaced font A monospaced font is a font where all characters are the same with every single letter taking up the same amount of space no matter how big or small the letter is.
proportional spaced font Proportional fonts are easier to read and are preferred for publishing applications. The font will change depending how big or small the lettering is.
Non-breaking spaces how do you insert them and what do they do-inserted a symbol of a non-breaking space. Keeps 2 words together on the same line
Non-Printing Characters what are they and how can you access them-, show/hide button, show paragraph symbols, dots for spaces, page and section breaks are shown,
Page Breaks insert when you are done with a page. No other information can be put there,( told, do not put anything there)only can see if non-printing characters are turned on. Select page break and delete to remove.
Quick Access Toolbarwhat is it and how do you edit it Toolbar that is located at the top left window all the time. It contains things like save, undo, redo, customizable, in all programs.
Ribbon - how is it organized/how to hide it (there are multiple ways) Top of the screen, organized by tabs, inside tabs , its organized by section again. Hide ribbon by hide ribbon button or double click on any tab. Doubled click again to unhide it.
Ruler (where to access it and what do all the arrows and boxes on it represent) To show ruler, go ot review tab, shows things like margins, indents, and tabs stops,
Save a file (what are the multiple ways)- save as, include 3 details when saving for the first time, give file name, destination, and tell it what type of file to save as.( Older and newer) Save is for after everything. Update change CTRL-S
Section Breaks where to access it -Go to Layout > Breaks, and then choose the type of section break you want.
section breaks options Next Page Starts the new section on the following page. Continuous Starts the new section on the same page. -Lumping text together to assign it certain properties, continuous section breaks, next page section breaks,
Select All (all the ways in Word to select everything in a document) CTRL-A, highlight all, ribbon, editing group, then select all, also triple click in margin to select all.
Serif vs San Sarif Font The serif font is more ornamental and has serifs extending from the ends while the sans serif font on the left has clean and very precise ends
Sorting data in a table Sorting functionality allows you to sort the data of the tables according to any specific columns., alphabetically descending, ascending, numerically, and by more than one category.
split/Arrange Window (what is it and what does it do) arrange to see multiple files at the same time, split- to see one file but in two different windows. Side by side- put files next to each other to scroll for both.
Tab Stops (right, left, center, decimal, and in which cases would you use them. How would you remove them) little things to put in the ruler, look like little L, tell it to stop at a specific spot, drag off to delete. Can be left aligned, right aligned, center aligned, or decimal aligned.
Tables (how to insert and the different options) insert with a grid, assign number of columns, insert a quick table which has design and format, or convert text to table.
Vertical Font Alignment (what are all of the options) vertical font is top center or bottom
Views (the different views of Word and why you would use each and where the buttons are located) -view tab, static bar at bottom also allows you to change views, default view is print layout view,
What can the Change Case options do Capital A and lowercase A button, lowercase, uppercase, sentence case, and toggle case are all options
What can the Clear Formatting button do? gets rid of all (FONT)formatting on words/ sentences. It puts it back in default.
Zoom (what/where are the multiple ways) view tab has zoom section and bottom right hand corner also allows you to change zoom,
