French Revolution

TermDefinition
Absolute Monarchy When a monarch has complete control of all aspects of the country.
Estates General The meeting of representatives of all three estates to discuss the issue of taxation in France.
Ancien Regime 'old system'. This referred to the old political system in France in which the king ruled the country.
The Bastille The Parisian prison stormed on 14th July 1789.
National Assembly The alternative meeting of the Third Estate when they left the Estates-General
