Question | Answer |
---|---|
Chapters | main parts of a book. A chapter is often devoted to one major idea or claim. |
Sections | can be contained within chapters. A section focuses on a more specific part of an idea or claim. |
paragraphs | make up each section. A paragraph explores an even narrower aspect of a central idea or claim. The number of paragraphs in a section can vary depending on the topic, central idea, or claim. |
sentences | combine to make paragraphs. Sentences can state ideas or give specific details that support an idea or claim. |
claim | a viewpoint or position on the topic they are presenting. This is true even of texts that are not strictly persuasive or argumentative. A claim is different from the central idea: A central idea is not influenced by the author’s view on a topic. |
