American Revolution

Grievance A complaint about something believed to be wrong or unfair
Revolutionary ( noun) A person who helps bring about change
Personal autonomy Involving or causing a complete or dramatic change
Enslaved person A person who is the legal property of another and is forced to obey them
Benefit An advantage or positive effect gained from something
Compromise An agreement in which each side gives up something to meet in the middle
Bayonet A knife or sword that fits on the end of a musket or rifle, used as a weapon in the Revolutionary War
Treason A crime against one’s country
Colonization The action of settling among and establishing control over the indigenous people of an area
Risk A situation involving exposure to danger
American Revolution A colonial revolt in which the American Patriots in the 13 colonies defeated the British in the American Revolution War, winning independence from Great Britain and establishing the United States of America
Patriotism A show of loyalty or love for one’s country
Factor A part or piece that contributes to the outcome
Revolution A dramatic change in society, government, or way of life
Advantage Factors or circumstances that lead to success
Loyalist A colonist who stayed loyal to Great Britain during the American Revolution
Founding Fathers A term used to refer to a group of American leaders who united the 13 colonies, led the war for independence from Great Britain, and built a frame of government for the new United States of America
Hessians German solders hired by the Britain to fight alongside them in Revolutionary war
Patriot A colonist who supported independence from Great Britain
