Quotes MB act 1

QuestionAnswer
Act 1 Scene 1 The witches; this quote illustrates the moral confusion at the heart of this play. Fair is foul, and foul is fair. Hover through the fog and filthy air.
Act 1 Scene 2 Sergeant and Duncan; these quotes are excellent to describe how much of a hero Macbeth is at the beginning of this tragedy. He is held in such high regard. Sergeant; for brave Macbeth-well he deserves that name. Sergeant; till he unseamed him from the nave to the chops. Duncan; what he hath lost, noble Macbeth hath won.
Act 1 Scene 3 Macbeth; excellent for imagery of clothing-and for Macbeth's ambition Why do you dress me/ in borrowed robes?
Act 1 Scene 3 Banquo; a super synonym for the witches and nature imagery The instruments of darkness.
Act 1 Scene 3 Macbeth; this is ultimately shows the power of lady Macbeth because she manages to change his mind form this thought that he should be more patient. Macbeth is still moral here. If chance will have me king, why, chance may crown me, without my stir.
Act 1 scene 5 Lady Macbeth; here we see a wife’s real knowledge of her husband’s personality- it also shows her distaste for what is an obvious quality- she sees it as a weakness. I fear thy nature/ it is too full of the milk of human kindness/ to catch the nearest way.
Act 1 Scene 7 Lady macbeth; startling imagery from lady macbeth here who will top at nothing to achieve the crown. The nursing mother image altered into something very sinister. I have given suck and know how tender tis to love the babe that Milks me. I would while it was smiling in my face, have plucked my nipples from his boneless gums and dashed the brains out, had I sworn as you have done this.
