QuestionAnswer
Why do engineers use reverse engineering? To learn how an object operates how components are made in order to document, investigate, or improve something about it.
What is asymmetry? Symmetry in which both halves of a composition are not identical. Also referred to as informal balance.
What is symmetry? The correspondence in size, shape, and relative position of parts on opposite sides of a median line or about a central axis. Also referred to as formal balance.
What are proportions? The relationship of one thing to another in size, amount, etc.
What is balance? A condition in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions.
What is form? Having the three dimensions of length, width, and depth and organization, placement, or relationship of basic elements so as to produce a coherent image.
What is color? The property possessed by an object of producing different sensations on the eye as a result of the way it reflects or emits light.
What is rhythm? A regularly recurring sequence of events or actions.
What is graphic design? The art of combining text and pictures in advertisements, magazines, books, etc.
What is contrast? The state of being noticeably different from something else when put or considered together
What is texture? The feel, appearance, or consistency of a surface, substance, or fabric.
What is pattern? A repeated decorative design.
What is radial symmetry? Symmetry about a central axis.
What is value? The lightness or darkness of a color in relation to a scale ranging from white to black.
What is reverse engineering? The process of taking something apart and analyzing its workings in detail.
What is shape? The two-dimensional outline that characterizes an object or area, in contrast to three-dimensional form.
What is emphasis? Special importance, value, or prominence given to something.
What considerations should be made when reverse engineering Visual, functional, and structural analysis
What makes a product aesthetically pleasing? Elements of design (e.g. color, form, balance)
How are principals and elements of design used to develop a product? So they can use these elements of design to make their products more aesthetically pleasing while still being functional.
What is the process of reverse engineering? A black box system is used where you identify what goes in and what comes out, with the black box or unknown internal workings in the middle.
Why is it important to have good communication skills? You must be able to communicate your ideas and how they will solve the problem succinctly and clearly.
