TermDefinition
Endpoints The points at an end of a line segment
Compass geometrical instrument with two arms. One ends in a point, and the other can be attached to a pencil. These are used for drawing circles and arcs.
Line Segment The part of a line between two points on the line. AB denotes a line segment between the points A and B.
Line One of the basic undefined terms of geometry. Traditionally thought of as a set of points that has no thickness but its length goes on forever in two opposite directions. AB denotes a line that passes through point A and B.
Ray begins at a point and goes on forever in one direction
Angle Angles are created by two distinct rays that share a common endpoint (also known as a vertex). <ABC or <B denote angles with vertex B.
Perpendicular Bisector A perpendicular line or segment that passes through the midpoint of a segment.
Bisector divides a segment or angle into two equal parts.
Parallel Lines two lines that lie on the same plane and they do not intersect
Point One of the basic undefined terms of geometry. Traditionally thought of as having no length, width, or thickness, and often a dot is used to represent it.
Straightedge An idealized mathematical object having a rigorously straight edge which can be used to draw a line segment.
Intersection The point at which two or more lines intersect or cross
Intersecting Lines Two lines in a plane that cross each other. Unless two lines are coincidental, parallel, or skew, they will intersect at one point.

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.

To see how well you know the information, try the Quiz or Test activity.
