what is main idea? The message or the most important point of a passage often stated in the topic or concluding sentence.
what is a secondary source? Written about the event from a distance of time and place.
what is periodical index Directs you to the latest infomation on any subject and provides summaries of infomation.
what is problem solution? It is after used in afiction story. Something goes wrong and the story tells how the problem is solved
what is chronological order? The same as time sequence. It begins with the event that happened first, a long time ago. Then the passage tells what happened each year after that , in order by date . It usually used in passage about history or someones life, a biography.
What are 6 purpose of writing. explain, inform, persuade, entertain, describe, analyze.
what are 3 types of context clues? a definition or synonym, an antonym, the general meaning of the passage
What is emotional appeal? example of method of persuasion that connects emotionally with the reader
what is propoganda? infomation that is spread to support a cause
tone the authors auttiude toward the reader ,places ,events, or charaters
what is revision altering and improving the context of an eassy
what is a thesis statement a type of statement that states the main idea of an eassy
what is plot the action of an story it depends on setting and sequence events
what is a source the orgin of data or information
what is setting time and place of a story
sequence of event require you to make connections
key words will help locate the answers in the passage
attiude feeling that undrelies words
fustrated the most accurate description of the author
skimming to look over the passage quickly
