Commander in chief The Constitution makes the President the Commander in Chief of America's military forces.

Constitutional authority powers derived from the provisions of the constitution that outline the presidents role in government
stewardship president could do what was necessary for the interests of the country as long as it was not explicitly illegal or unconstitutional most modern presidents fall here
Constructionist presidency if the constitution does not say it or congress does not give it, the president does not have the power to do it
Executive agreement an agreement between the executive branch/president and a foreign government, which act as a treaty but does not require senate approval
What does the president control day to day as commander in chief? military operations through the Department of Defense and has the power to order troops without explicit congressional approval.
