Hawthorne effect States that giving special attention to a group of employees (such as involoving them in an experiment) changes their behavior. p.209
Linchpin concept Because managers are members of overlapping groups, they link formal work groups to the total organization. p.209
team building process by which the formal work group develops an awareness of those conditions that keep it from functioning effectively and then elimate those conditions. p.209
idiosyncrasy credit phenomenon that occurs when certain members who have made or are making significant contributions to the groups' goals are allowed to take some liberties whitin the group. p.211
