3 structural classifications of a joint - Fibrous - Cartilaginous - Synovial
3 functional classifications of a joint - Syntharoses - Amparthroses - Diathroses
Fibrous Joints - Bones are joined by fibrous tissue - No joint cavity present - Most are synarthrotic
Cartilaginous Joint - Hyline cartilage - Lack of Joint cavity - Amphiarthrotic Joint
Synovial Joint - All those are freely movable - Those joints in which the articulating bones are separated by a fluid containing joint cavity
Bursae - Flattened fibrous sacs lined with synovial fluid membranes and containing synovial fluid
What determines Synovial Joint Stability 1. Articular Surfaces 2. Ligaments 3. Tendons
Origin - Attachment to the immovable bone
Insertion - Attachment to the movable bone
Flexion - Decreases the angle of the joint
Extension - Reverse of flexion joint angle increases
Adduction - Movement toward the midline
Abduction - Movement away from the midline
