Jurisdiction authority to administer and interpret the law
Original jurisdiction authority to hear a case the first time
Appellate jurisdiction authority to review decisions by lower courts
Probable cause the reason to believe someone has committed a crime

Arraignment when an accused person appears in court to enter a plea
Justices supreme court judges
Judicial review the power of the supreme court to determine if a law is constitutional
Unconstitutional not in accord with the constitution
Criminal case a case in which a person is accused of breaking the law
Civil case a case involving a dispute over money or property
Due process of law the fair application of the law to one's case (being treated fairly by the government)
Warrant a court document for arrest or to search a person's property
Plea the accused says whether he/she is guilty or not guilty
