Springing Heifer | Young female cow, pregnant with her first calf (also called 1st calf heifer). |
2nd Calf Heifer | Female cow pregnant with her second calf. |
Gomer/Teaser Bull | Detects female cows in heat; may have penis deviated to one side, be treated with steroids, or have undergone a vasectomy. |
Stallion | Intact male horse older than 3 years. |
Colt | Intact male horse younger than 3 years. |
Gelding | Castrated male horse of any age. |
Ridgeling | Cryptorchid equine (uni-or-bilateral). |
Mare | Intact female horse older than 3 years. |
Filly | Intact female horse younger than 3 years. |
Brood Mare | Breeding female horse. |
Maiden Mare | Intact female horse that has never been bred. |
Barren (Open) Mare | Intact female horse that has not been bred or didn't conceive. |
Wet Mare | Intact female horse that has foaled in the current breeding season. |
Agalactic Mare | Intact female horse that is not producing milk. |
Foal | Young equine of any sex from birth to weaning. |
Yearling | Young equine, 1-2 years old. |
Weanling | Young equine, weaning to 1 years old. |
Pony | Equine between 8.2 to 14.2 hands (mature, not a young horse). |
Foaling | Giving birth to an equine. |
