Term | Definition |

Mixed Cell Reference | a cell reference that contains both relative and absolute references |
Spreadsheet | a grid of rows and columns in which you enter text, numbers, and the results of calculations |
Operator | a symbol that indicates what mathematical operation to perform on the operands such as a "plus" sign for addition |
Custom Function | a special function that must be created because there is no shortcut for it on the ribbon |
Argument | the value the function uses to perform a calculation, including a number, text, or a cell reference that acts as an operand |
Formula | an equation that calculates a new value from values currently in a worksheet, such as adding the numbers in cell A1 and cell A2 |
Formula Bar | appears to the right of the Name Box and displays a formula when the cell of a worksheet contains a calculated value |
Name Box | the cell reference area located below the ribbon, displays the cell reference of the active cell |
Etiquette | treating people the way you want to be treated is an example |
Netiquette | a set of rules for everyone to follow online |
Wrap Text | to move data to a new line when the cell is not wide enough to display all content |
Split | to divide the worksheet window into two or four panes that scroll independently |
Point-And-Click Method | to click a cell rather than type it's cell reference in a formula |
Format Painter | enables you to copy formatting from one cell and paste it to other cells without pasting the first cell's contents. |
AutoFit | an automatic determination of the best width for a column or the best height for a row, based on it's content |
Freeze Panes | to keep selected rows and/or columns of the worksheet visible on the screen as the rest of the worksheet scrolls |
Theme | a preset collection of design elements, including fonts, colors and effects. |
Number Formats | changes the way data looks in a cell without changing the actual content you entered |
Fill Handle | the blue square in the lower-right corner of the active cell or range that you drag over the cells you want to fill |
Scale | to resize a worksheet to print on a specific number of pages |
