Korean tenses
Term | Definition |
---|---|
Future Tense | Means “will” in English: (으)ㄹ 거예요. |
Progressive Tense | - equivalent to “-ing” in English : 고 있다 |
Present Tense | What is currently happening: (스)ㅂ니다 or 아/어요 |
Past Tense | What happened in the past: 았/었어요 |
Past Perfect tense | Used when talking about something that occurred and did not continue: 았/었었어요. Ex: I smoked last year but I don’t now. ( 저는 작년에 담배를 피웠었어요. 그렇지만 지금 안 피워요.) |
