Elimination | defecation; urination |
Ergonomic hazard | a hazard that occurs when the type of work, body positions and working conditions put a strain on the body; usually damage is done from long- term exposure |
Ethology | the study of animal behavior |
Exposure | the state of being exposed to contact with something |
External stimulus | something outside the animal (e.g., sound, smell, sight) that has an impact or an effect on an organism so that its behavior is modified in a detectable |
Ferrule | a ring or cap, typically a metal one, that strengthens the end of a handle, stick or tube and prevents it from splitting or wearing |
Flammable | easily set on fire |
Foraging | feeding |
Globally Harmonized System (GHS) | system of classification and labeling of chemicals; GHS defines and classifies the hazards of chemical products and communicates health and safety information on labels and Safety Data Sheets |
Habituation: | learning based on habit |
Half hitch knot | simple overhand knot, in which the working end of a line is brought over and under the standing part |
Halter | a rope or strap with a noose or headstall placed around the head of a horse or other animal; used for leading or tethering an animal |
Harmful | causing or likely to cause unfavorable conditions or results |
Hazard | a danger or risk |
Head gate | a device used to restrain the head of a large animal |
Ingest | to take into the body (food, drink or another substance) by swallowing or absorbing it |
Inhale | to breathe in or take in (e.g., air, gas, smoke) |
Internal stimulus | something inside the animal (e.g., hunger, fatigue, cold temperature, hormones) that has an impact or an effect on an organism so that its behavior is modified in a detectable way |
Isopropyl alcohol | a clear, colorless, flammable liquid that is frequently used as a disinfectant |
Knot | a fastening made by tying a piece of string, rope or something similar |
Learning | the development of behaviors through experience |

Parental care | ensuring survival of young |
Pathogen: | a disease-causing microorganism; any agent that causes disease |
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) | equipment worn to minimize the exposure to hazards that cause workplace injuries or illnesses |
Physical hazard | a factor in the environment that can harm the body without necessarily touching the body |
Play behavior | training for life activities; play strengthens social bonds while providing an outlet for energy |
Precautions | measures taken in advance to prevent something dangerous, unpleasant or inconvenient from happening |
Radioactive | emitting or relating to the emission of ionizing radiation or particles |
Reefer's knot | a simple binding knot based on the square knot with a half bow that secures two lengths of rope together |
Reproductive | relating to mating, giving birth |
Resting | lying down, sitting, basking, sleeping |
