Excel Lesson 6 Vocab

Ascending Sort A sort order that arranges records using the values in a specific field or column from A to Z, smallest to largest, earliest to latest
Auto Filter A menu that opens when you click a filter arrow. The menu lists all the values that appear in that column along with additional criteria and color filtering options
Comment A small note or annotation
Conditional Formatting Formatting that highlights worksheet data by changing the look of cells that meet a specified condition
Descending Sort A sort order that arranges records using the values in a specific field or column from Z to A , largest to smallest, latest to earliest
Filter To display a subset of the data that meets certain criteria and temporarily hide the rows that do not meet the specified criteria
Filter Arrows An arrow that appears in a column heading cell that opens the Auto Filter menu
Hyperlink Text, cell, or an object that when clicked jumps to another location such as another file location or a website, also called a link
Object Anything that appears on the screen that you can select and work with as a whole, such as a shape, picture, or chart
Picture A digital photograph or other image file
Research task pane A task pane that provides access to information typically found in references such as dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias
SmartArt graphic A graphic diagram that visually illustrates text and includes formatted graphics
Sort To arrange a list of words or numbers in ascending or descending order
Template A predesigned file that you can use to create a new file
