Healthy Choices | the practice of eating healthy foods, exercising to keep the body fit, and resting enough to function and feel well. |
Screen Time Limits | Ensuring that children are safe from the dangers of over exposure to electronics and social media. |
Role Model | a person who a child admires or desires to pattern their behavior after. |
Peer Pressure | Adopting the language, behavior and ideas of a group in order to gain acceptance or "fit in". |
Attraction | Feelings (emotional or physical) toward someone else sometimes in a romantic or exclusive way. |
Moral Development | The changing perspective of an person about what is right or wrong which should guide their behavior. |
My Plate | A recommended ratio of various foods (nutrition) that is recommended for good health |
Conservation | The idea that an object has the same characteristics even if there is a change in how it is presented. (ex. cars or clay) |
Hypothetical | the ability to think abstractly, about how a situation is or could be. |
Transivity | the idea that the relative relationship of two objects can extend to one another. |
Seriation | the ability to arrange items in increasing or decreasing order based on weight, volume or size. |
Classification | the ability to group objects by common attributes such as size, color, shape, pattern or function. |
Puberty | the set of physical changes that result in a mature body that is able to reproduce(usually beginning around the age of 12) |
Acne | a skin condition (most noticeable on the face) caused by excessive oils or bacteria on the skin |
Eating Disorder | a condition caused by being overly obsessed with body appearance, often leading to fasting (not eating)or binging (extreme over eating) |
Childhood Development | The progression of children to change as they grow older by acquiring and refining knowledge, behaviors, and skills. |
Child Protective Services (DFAC) | the office responsible for receiving and investigating reports of suspected abuse or neglect of children and for ensuring that services are provided to children and families to prevent abuse and neglect |
Early Intervention | A range of services designed to enhance the development of children with disabilities or at risk of developmental delays. |
Inclusion | The principle of enabling all children, regardless of their diverse abilities, to participate actively in natural settings like school classrooms |
School Readiness | state of early development that enables an individual child to engage in and benefit from first grade learning experiences |
