evaluate | to find the value of |
fraction | a part of a whole |
root | a number that when multiplied by itself (a certain number of times) produces the original number |
exponent | the number of times a number is multiplied by itself |
radical | an expression that uses a root, such as square root or cube root |
rational | a number that can be written as a fraction of two integers |
index | also known as the “power”, says how many times to multiply a number by itself |
power | the number of times a number is multiple by itself |
nth root | the radical symbol with a little n, a number multiplied by itself ‘n’ times to get the initial number |
solve | to answer a math problem, to find the solution |
expression | numbers, symbols, and operators (such as addition and multiplication) grouped together to show the value of something |
equation | a statement that the values of two mathematical expressions are equal (indicated by a = sign) |
surface area | the amount of space covering the outside of a three-dimensional shape |
mass | a measurement of how much matter is contained in an object |
constant | a fixed value |
denominator | the bottom number in a fraction, shows how many equal parts the item is divided into |
cube root | the factor that we multiply by itself three times to get that number |
