Spyware | A category of Software that may send pop-up-adds, redirect your browse, or monitor the websites you visit when you install it. |
Dumpster Diving | Search through dumpsters or trash for edible for of items of high value. |
Firewall | A part of a computer system designed to block unauthorized access to your device. |
Forgery | When a legal instrument is altered. Commonly found in the form of false signatures |
Fraud | A person or thing that is sued to deceive others, typically by unjustifiably claiming to have certain accomplishments or qualities |
Identity Theft | The fraudulent acquisition and sue of a persons private information, usually for financial gain. |
Peer-to-peer (P2P) | Allowing shared access to files and peripherals without the need for a central server. |
Publishing | companies that provide informational products and services to the investment community |
Shoulder Surfing | the practice of spying on the user of an ATM, computer, or other electronic device in order to obtain their personal access information. |
Snail Mail | the ordinary postal system as opposed to email. |
Scams | a dishonest scheme; a fraud. |
Anti-Virus Software | a kind of software used to prevent, scan, detect and delete viruses from a computer. |
Better Business Bureau | a private organization that provides the public with information on businesses and charities |
Federal Trade Commission | a federal agency, that administers antitrust and consumer protection legislation in pursuit of free and fair competition in the marketplace. |
Equifax | an American credit information company to help people estimate their general credit position. |
TransUnion | an American consumer credit reporting agency |
Experian | a credit reporting agency |
Internal Revenue Service | the U.S. federal agency that oversees the collection of taxes—primarily income taxes—and the enforcement of tax laws. |
Solicitations | the act of asking for or trying to obtain something from someone |
Spam | irrelevant or inappropriate messages sent on the internet to a large number of recipients. |
