conquistadors Spanish colonizers/conquerors in search of resources or riches - aimed to open trade routes and gather high quality items to give back to the mother country
nation-state territory where one group living there share common history - native americans could technically be in nation-states
diseases negative affect by pathogens or sickness - Spanish brought over diseases due to things that native americans didn't have, so they didn't develop natural "immunity" causes great dying
