Consumer Protection

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) investigates businesses that are breaking consumer and competition laws and enforces these laws.
The Office of the Ombudsman looks at complaints from people who feel like they have been treated unfairly by a public body such as a government department. It is free. You need to try solving the problem yourself before going to it.
The Small Claims procedure you can sue for up to €2,000. It costs €25 to do. You fill in an online form. You need to try solving the problem yourself before going to it.
The Consumers’ Association of Ireland (CAI) give voluntary advice and information to consumers. It campaigns to improve consumer laws.
The Advertising Standards Authority of Ireland (ASAI) promotes good advertising standards in order to protect consumers from dishonest and illegal marketing of products and services.
