Ethics and the Veterinary Practice

confidentiality ALL staff need to follow, do NOT release any client information for any reason as you could be in violation of the law; if not followed, a lawsuit and/or loss of job could occur
Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship interaction among a veterinarian and client regarding a patient (animal)
VCPR veterinarian and hospital will provide adequate health care, and the client agrees to follow the vet's instructions; the staff will aid the vet and provide service under their direction
VCPR cont'd vet examines the patient and has sufficient knowledge to diagnose medical conditions, vet is readily available or had made arrangements for emergency care/follow-up evals
VCPR and Medical Records vets must keep medical records (confidential until release form is signed), VETS CANNOT DISPENSE/PRESCRIBE MEDS WITHOUT VCPR
terminating a VCPR if no ongoing medical condition, vet must notify the client that they no longer wish to serve them; if ongoing medical condition, patient must be referred to another vet; CLIENT CAN TERMINATE VCPR AT ANY TIME
