Ethics and the Veterinary Practice

Veterinary Technician Code of Ethics | NAVTA (North American Veterinary Technician Association); code expresses ideals of the profession, leads LVTs towards ethical decision making, provides acceptable conducts and sanctions for wrong doings |
ideals of our profession | concepts geared towards excellence, improvements in our profession, working on laws surrounding vet techs, betterment of education, work on the human-animal bond |
patient first means | right to choose client and patients, emergency care, health decisions |

responsibility to the profession | veterinary image, professional colleagues, improve veterinary knowledge and skills |

confidentiality | ALL staff need to follow, do NOT release any client information for any reason as you could be in violation of the law; if not followed, a lawsuit and/or loss of job could occur |
