abstraction
2.1 - thinking abstractly
Term | Definition |
---|---|
abstraction definition | the removal of unnecessary information from a task, image etc. in order to form a simplified idea. |
abstraction benefits | FOR THE PRODUCER: can reduce costs, makes the outcome easier to produce, reduces time FOR THE CONSUMER: can make the outcome easier to comprehend, can reduce time needed to master a skill, can prevent miscommunication/mistakes from occurring |
levels of abstraction | The more abstracted the product is, the more specific it becomes to one singular idea. This can be used to optimise benefits for said idea, yet it also reduces the overall effectiveness from the original product |
computer science examples | flowcharts, IDEs, File explorer, applications |
abstract model definition | a pictorial/visual representation of an abstracted idea |
abstraction vs reality | abstraction is a simplified version of reality |
