Costorvertebral Joint | Head to thoracic vertebrae |
Costochondral Joint | Bone to costal cartilage |
Sternal Rib | Pair 1 - 8, protects organs (heart, lungs) joins with intersternbral cartilage b/w sternebra |
Asternal Rib | pairs 9 - 12, allows lung to expand & contract attaching with costal cartilage forming costal arch |
Floating Rib | pair 13, doesn't attach to costal arch, provides muscle attachment |
Manubrium | most sternrbra attaching for sternocephalicus Julgar notion @ superior aspect forming jugular foramen for internal juglar vein passage |
Sternbrae | 2 - 7 ossifies (turn into bone) w/ age Intersternal cartilage: in b/w sternebrae protects intrathoracic carpolmonary structure, movement for breathing & muscle attachment |
Xiphoid cartilage | AKA Xiphsternum most caudal sternum long & flat ossifies & attach for Linea Alba (diaphram for breathing) |
