Eu, and prokaryotic
eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells
Term | Definition |
---|---|
prokaryotic | a microscopic single-celled organism that has neither a distinct nucleus with a membrane nor other specialized organelles. Prokaryotes include the bacteria and cyanobacteria. |
Eukaryotic | an organism consisting of a cell or cells in which the genetic material is DNA in the form of chromosomes contained within a distinct nucleus. Eukaryotes include all living organisms other than the eubacteria and archaebacteria. |
Cell | the smallest structural and functional unit of an organism, typically microscopic and consisting of cytoplasm and a nucleus enclosed in a membrane. Microscopic organisms typically consist of a single cell, which is either eukaryotic or prokaryotic. |
Nucleus | the central and most important part of an object, movement, or group, forming the basis for its activity and growth. |
organelles | any of a number of organized or specialized structures within a living cell. |
Unicellular | characterized by the formation or presence of a single cell or cells. |
Multicellular | having or consisting of many cells. |
Cell size | the size of each individual cell, or square, on an image. |
DNA | a self-replicating material that is present in nearly all living organisms as the main constituent of chromosomes. It is the carrier of genetic information. |
Reproduction | the action or process of making a copy of any unicellular fungus that reproduces |
E-coil | being the same in quantity, size, degree, or value. |
Yeast | any unicellular fungus that reproduces vegetatively by budding or fission, including forms such as candida that can cause disease. |
Frog | any of various tailless amphibians belonging to the order Anura. |
Mushroom | the reproductive structure produced by some fungi. |
Human | a culture-bearing primate classified in the genus Homo, especially the species H. sapiens |
Streptococus | the bacteria's characteristic grouping in chains that resemble a string of beads. |
