Information Technology (IT) the equipment and techniques used to manage and process information
Internet of Things the network of devices and other items embedded with sensors and software to enable objects to connect and exchange data (Alexa, lights, etc)
Data raw unorganized facts that can be moved and stored
Database an electronic filing system that collects and organizes data and information
Batch processing updating database with data collected over a period of time (ex. payroll system, periodic not continuous)
Real-time/online processing processing data as soon as it becomes available (airports)
Decision Support Systems (DSS) processing system for answering specific what-if questions
IT project planning What are the company's IT priorities? What technologies meet the company's requirements?
Cybersecurity The art of protecting networks and data from unauthorized access.
