Nick Carraway | 1st person narrator of the story's event, sad events are interpreted through his eyes. Represents the middle class, he's the only character that knows all the circumstances of the characters. |
Jay Gatsby | No one really knows what goes on inside of him or who he is. Wealthy: NEW Money |
Daisy Buchanan | Louisville, Kentucky socialite. Born into tremendous wealth, she's lovely but very careless. Lacks any substance. |
Tom Buchanan | Daisy's husband who is 30, from a wealthy family in Chicago. "Supercilious", fractious, and an abusive adulterer. |
Jordan Baker | Golfer, lacks substance, young, a liar, is somewhat of a love interest to Nick. |
Myrtle Wilson | Lives in the Valley Of Ashes, she's the mistress of Tom, and is desperate to escape her fate. |
George Wilson | Sad owner of a gas station in the Valley Of Ashes, a product of economic hardship, and is Myrtle's husband. |
Doctor T.J. Eckleburg | A doctor whose billboard looks down upon the Valley Of Ashes, said billboard has gigantic blue eyes behind enormous yellow glasses. George calls those eyes "the eyes of God" |
West Egg | The home of Nick Carraway, Jay Gatsby, and anyone with new money. |
East Egg | For people with old money, usually are snobby & greedy. Tom and Daisy Buchanan live there. |
Valley Of Ashes | The home of George and Myrtle Wilson. |
