AI | AI is the engine that determines an NPC's behavior in the game world. |
Anime | A style of animation originating in Japan that is characterized by stark colorful graphics depicting vibrant characters in action-filled plots often with fantastic or futuristic themes. |
Console | An electronic device that outputs a video signal or image to display a video game that can be played with a game controller. |
Cut scene | A narrative device in which the game pauses play to deliver a short cinematic sequence. |
ESA | The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) is the trade association for the video game industry in the United States. |
ESRB Rating | Provide information about what's in a game or app so parents and consumers can make informed choices about which games are right for their family. |
First Person Shooter | A first-person shooter (FPS) is a video game centered on gun fighting and other weapon-based combat seen from a first-person perspective, with the player experiencing the action directly through the eyes of the main character. |
FPS (Frames Per Second) | FPS, or Frames Per Second, is a measure of the rate at which a computer video game can produce and render frames. Generally, the higher the FPS number, the smoother and more engaging gameplay will be for users. |
Game screens | Any of various interactive games played using a specialized electronic gaming device or a computer or mobile device and a television or other display screen |
Genre | An informal classification of a video game based on how it is played rather than visual or narrative elements. |
Gone Gold | It has reached the point where it is finished and ready for release. |
Grind | Grinding is a term used in video game culture, referring to the act of repeating an action or set of actions. |
Janky | A player's perception that a videogame does not behave in the ways that it should. |
Level | Any space available to the player during the course of completion of an objective. |
Loot | The collection of items picked up by the player character that increase their power or level up their abilities, such as currency, spells, equipment and weapons. |
MMO | A massively multiplayer online game is an online video game with a large number of players on the same server. |
Pixels | Pixels are the smallest unit in a digital display. Up to millions of pixels make up an image or video on a device's screen. |
Platform | Video games are developed to be played on a gaming platform that provides a player experience. |
Quest | A quest, or mission, is a task in video games that a player-controlled character, party, or group of characters may complete in order to gain a reward. |
Realm | A realm is a game world existing only for a few thousands players within it. |
RPG | A role-playing game (RPG) is a game in which each participant assumes the role of a character that can interact within the game's imaginary world. |
Sprites | A sprite is a term commonly used in computer graphics and gaming to refer to a two-dimensional image or animation that is integrated into a larger scene or game environment. |
Top-down | A camera angle that shows the player and the area around them from above. |
