GIDEON V. WAINWRIGHT (1963) | a man stole cigarettes' from a vending machine, he was arrested and went to trial, judges sided with him because they said that the law violated his 6th amendment. |
ROE V. WADE (1973) | the Supreme Court decided that the right to privacy implied in the 14th Amendment protected abortion as a fundamental right. However, the government retained the power to regulate or restrict abortion access depending on the stage of pregnancy. |
