Sample Space and Events
Term | Definition |

Sample space | The set of all possible outcomes. |
Probability | The chance or likelihood of an event occurring. |
Probability | A value ranging from 0 (0%) to 1 (100%). |
Impossible | The probability of an event is equal to 0 (0%). |
Certain | The probability of an event is equal to 1 (100%). |
Event | A group of outcomes in the sample space that have a particular property in common. |
List | A way of represent all possible outcomes using set notation. |
2-dimensional grid | A way to represent all possible combinations of events using a horizontal and vertical axis. |
Tree diagram | A way to represent all possible combinations of events consisting of branches, probabilities, and outcomes. |
Venn diagram | A way to represent a sample space, events and their relationships using a rectangle and circles. |
