Reconstruction amendments Amendments 13, 14, & 15 were created after the Civil War to help address the inequality issues faced by former enslaved persons.
13th Amendment Abolished slavery
14th Amendment Granted citizenship to former enslaved persons
15th Amendment Gave African Americans the right to vote
19th Amendment Women's suffrage (right to vote)
24th Amendment Eliminated poll taxes
26th Amendment Lowered the voting age from 21 to 18
Civil Rights Act of 1964 - Ended segregation in public places and most private businesses - Banned employment discrimination based upon race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.
Civil Rights of 1965 Ended literacy tests
Civil Rights Act of 1968 Fair Housing Act - Prohibited discrimination in the sale, rental, or financing of housing based upon race, color, religion, sex, or national origin
