What is the structure of the poem? – The poem consist of four quadrants (four lined stanzas) – the rhyme scheme is: AABB CCDD EEFF GGHH – Hopkins uses what he calls SPRUNG RHYME: together with the rhyme scheme, eternal rhyme and the rhythm of the poem – the rhyme is made up of four stre
What is the tone and the mood in stanza one? – The town is one of vitality and energy which creates a mood of movement and life – There is confidence and certainty in his town as the speaker convinces his fellow man that places of such beauty should be preserved
