APM PMQ Competence 10 terminology

TermDefinition
Communication The process of exchanging information and confirming there is shared understanding.
Communication plan A document that identifies what information is to be communicated to whom, why, when, where, how, by whom, through which medium and the desired impact.
Face to face communication Each participant can see the other party or parties in a conversation (so including videoconferencing).
Noise Any influence that modifies the meaning of a message to the receiver. This includes, culture, language, environment, etc. as well as sound interference.
Physical communication Non-verbal communication, including printed material, posters, signage, etc.
Stakeholder engagement The systematic identification, analysis, planning and implementation of actions designed to influence stakeholders.
Stakeholders Organisations or people who have an interest or role in the project, programme or portfolio, or are impacted by it.
Virtual communication Interactive communication without co-location, relying on some technology platform to provide a communication medium (telephone, videoconference, screen-sharing application, etc.)
