Patrick Henry | Virginian who urged people to take up arms in the revolution; "Give me liberty of give me death!" |
Stamp Act | Required all colonists to buy special tax stamps for paper goods such as newspapers, wills, licenses, land titles, and other documents |
Writ of assistance | court order allowing searches without having reason |
Treaty of Paris (1763) | Ended the French and Indian War and forced France to give up their land west of the Appalachians to the British |
Proclamation of 1763 | Banned colonial settlement west of the Appalachian Mountains |
