TermDefinition
Absolute Value - The distance between a number and 0 on a number line; The absolute value of a number a is written as |a| Example: 5 |5|
Opposites - Two numbers that are the same distance from zero, but are on different sides of zero Example: -8 8
Integer - The set of whole numbers and their opposites Example: -4, 4
Additive Inverse - The opposite of a number Example: 3 + -3 = 0
Natural Numbers - whole numbers excluding 0 Example:1, 2, 3…
Rational Numbers - A number be written as a/b where a and b are integers and b = 0 Example: ⅗, -⅗ 0.24, 1.22….
Real Numbers - The set of all rational and irrational numbers Example: 1/2, 0.5, -4, Every single number
Repeating Decimals - A decimal that has a pattern that repeats Example: 18.18… Terminating Decimals - A decimal that ends
Terminating Decimals - A decimal that ends Example: 0.3
