2nd Grade Social Studies Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Equator An imaginary line around the middle of Earth that divides it into the Northern and Southern Hemispheres
Environment Our surroundings, including land, water, and climate
Hemisphere Half of a sphere (globe). Earth is divided into four hemispheres. The Prime Meridian divides the Eastern and Western Hemispheres. The equator divides the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
Land The solid surface of Earth
Prime Meridian An imaginary line that divides Earth into the Eastern and Western Hemispheres
Region Areas that have common (the same) characteristics Desert region, Plains region ,Mountain region
