WWII: The rise of New Ideologies
Term | Definition |

Propaganda | Spreading rumors, lies and ideas about something to either promote or harm a person, organisation or thing. |
Allience | An agreement between countries to cooperate on certain issues, ofter military issues. |
Entente Cordiale | Military alliance between Britain, France, and Russia during WWI. |
Central Powers | Military alliance between Germany and the Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman Empires. |
No-man's land | The area of land between the two opposing trenches during WW1. |
Self-determination | The idea that every nation should have the right to choose its own government. |
Treaty of Versailles | The settlement agreed in the Palace of Versailles in 1919 by the victorious powers after WW1. |
Reperations | Financial compensation imposed on Germany to pay for the cost of WW1. |
League of Nations | International organisation set up after WW1 to help cooperation between countries. The absence of Russia, Germany and the USA meant it lacked credibility. |
Isolationism | American policy during the period between WW1 and WW2 not to involve itself in European affairs. |
Bolshevik | A member of the Russian Bolshevik Party who believed in the overthrown of the monarchy and the creation of a communist system of government. |
Ideology | A set of beliefs about how politics and society should be organised. |
