Bronchoscopy | inspection of the interior of the tracheobronchial tree through an endoscope |

Laryngoscopy | inspection of the larynx by means of the endoscope |
Mantoux test | a dermatologic procedure in which tuberculin or its pruified protein derivative (PPD) is injected into the skin; the test is read on the basis of local induration occuring in 48-72 hours |
Paracentesis | the passage into a cavity of a trocar & cannual, needle, or other hollow insturment for the purpose of removing fliud |
Pheumonectomy | removal of all pulmonary lobes form a lung in one operation |
Rhinoplasty | repair of a defect of the nose with tissue taken from elsewhere |
Sinuscopy | inspection of the sinus cavities by means of an endoscope |
Sinusotomy | incision into a sinus |
Septoplasty | operation to correct defects or deformities of the nasal septum, often by alteration or partial removal of supporting structures |
Spirometer | a machine to measure pulmonary gases and lung capacity |
Thoracentesis | paracentesis of the pleural cavity |
Tracheostomy | the operation of creating an opening into the trachea |
Ventilator | a mechanical device designed to perform part or all of the work of respiration, i.e.: of moving gas into & out of the lungs |
