Define: Prejudice (1) an opinion that is formed without knowing or understanding all the facts. (2) General bad treatment of a person or group without specific cause or reason.
What preexisting prejudices were present before WWII? Before the Nazis came to power, there were already some negative feelings towards Jewish people in Germany. Some people wrongly believed that Jewish people were responsible for many of the country’s problems.
Summarize the “events leading to the Holocaust” Once the Nazis were in power, they started passing laws that took away the rights of Jewish people. They forced Jewish people to live in separate areas called ghettos. During World War II, the Nazis decided to kill all the Jewish people in Europe (the Holocaust).
During what years did WWII take place? 1939-1945
Define: Holocaust Extermination of 6 million Jews and 5 million others the Nazis didn’t like in concentration camps (during WWII)
Who was Hitler? Germany’s leader during WWII
Who was Winston Churchill? England’s leader during WWII
What sparked WWI? Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand
Why did Hitler set up concentration camps? Hitler wanted more living space for Germans
Define: Genocide the planned killing of a race of people
Who was Mussolini? Italy’s fascist dictator during WWII
