What is a motive? A short melodic or rhythmic pattern that recurs
What is the leading tone? The 7th note of the scale
How is a melodic minor formed? Raising 6th and 7th on the way up, but lowering them when descending
What does coda mean? A closing section
What does una corda mean? Press the soft pedal
What does tre corde mean? Release the soft pedal
What does leggiero mean? Lightly
What does cantabile mean? In a singing style
What does sempre mean? Always
What does rallentando mean? Gradually slowing in speed
