What is the Gunpowder Revolution? The result of many new types of weapons being invented
What is divine right? the idea that a monarch received their power for God
What caused the Ottoman Empire to be weakened? inflation - caused the currency to lose value
What is absolutism? How kings were able to rule after the power of the Catholic Church declined in Europe.
Who are janissaries? Enslaved people by the Ottoman Empire and were loyal to the Ottomans.
What is a confederacy? an alliance between people and places.
How did the Safavids gain power amongs the Turks? by organizing a confederacy
Who first discovered gunpowder? Daoist alchemist
How was gunpowder used for celebrations? fireworks
Why was gunpowder used in warfare? because it was discovered that it could make stronger explosions
How did gunpowder spread throughout Eurasia? At first, only the Chinese knew hot to make weapons with gunpowder, and they closely guarded the materials. Then, the Mongols recruited people who knew how to use gunpowder, which helped them conquer China.
Where was the Mughal Empire located? India and parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan
Where was the Safavid Empire located? Iran and parts of Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Turkmenistan
Where did the Safavid Empire originate? Sufi Muslims in Persia
What is the religion of the Safavid Empire? Shi'a Muslim
Who were the important leaders in the Safavid Empire? Ismail I and Tahmasp
Why was gunpowder important in the Safavid Empire? they recognized the need for gunpowder weapons after losing to the Ottomans at Chaldiran
