Monomials

QuestionAnswer
What is a monomial? A number, a variable, or the product of a number and one or more variables
What is a constant? Monomials that contain no variables
What is a coefficient The numerical factor of a monomial or term. (The number in front of the variables)
What is the degree of a monomial? The sum of the exponents of its variables.
What is a power (or exponential expression)? An expression of the form x^n
What is Scientific Notation? A short hand way to write really large and really small numbers
In Scientific Notation the exponent is positive if . . . The original number was greater than it's scientific notation (the decimal is moved to the left)
In Scientific Notation the exponent is negative if . . . The original number wis less that it's scientific notation (the decimal is moved to the right)
