Rhinitis stuffy nose, inflammation of the nasal mucosa often caused by nasal infections
Tinnitus abnormal sensation of ringing or buzzing in the ear
Tympanic membrane ear drum; membrane that separates external ear canal from middle ear
Eustachian tube tube extending from inside the ear to the throat to equalize air pressure; also called auditory tube
Sputum matter that is expelled from the respiratory tract, such as mucus or phlegm, mixed with saliva, which can then be spat from the mouth
Gingivitis inflammation of the gum, often as a result of poor oral hygiene
Glaucoma disorder characterized by elevated pressure in the eye
Cerumen ear wax
Mucus thick, slippery material that is secreted by the mucous membrane and keeps the membrane moist
Sebum secretion of sebaceous glands
Hives an allergic or hypersensitivity response characterized by raised red lesions; also referred to as hives
Wheal raised red skin lesion often associated with severe itching, as in hives
Ulcer a necrotic open sore or lesion
Tumor growth of tissues in which cells proliferation is uncontrolled and progressive
Teratogen any environmental factor that causes a birth defect (abnormality present at birth)
Malignant refers to a tumor or neoplasm that is capable of metastasizing or spreading to new tissues (that is, cancer)
Cancer tumor (neoplasm) capable of metastasizing (spreading) to other parts of the body
Benign refers to a tumor or neoplasm that does metastasize or spread to different tissues
Carcinogenic any substance, radionuclide, or radiation that is an agent directly involved in causing cancer
Cytotoxic agent the quality of being toxic to cells. (e.g. from the puff adder brown recluse spider).
